America's Food Supply

You don't have to be an expert in nutrition sciences to know that the quality of the food you eat isn't what it used to be. What I am going to say below won't concern you much if you live on prepared packaged meals and out of fast food restaurants.  The damage you are doing to your body may be beyond any benefit that any number of supplements can provide.  But, most of you are concerned and knowledgeable about nutrition issues and you accept responsibility for your health.

What is causing the decline?

There are several factors contributing to the decline in America's food quality. One major issue is the rise of industrial agriculture, which prioritizes quantity and profit over nutritional value. This has led to the widespread use of pesticides, herbicides, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in our food.  Is there any question about why cancer is up, heart disease is up, obesity is up and the current generation is the first that is not expected to outlive their parents?  We are poisoning ourselves and our families.

How does this impact your health?

Poor quality food can have a significant impact on your health. Consuming foods that are high in pesticides and GMOs has been linked to an increased risk of various health problems, including obesity, diabetes, Alzheimer's and cancer. Additionally, the overuse of antibiotics in livestock can contribute to the rise of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, posing a serious threat to public health.

What can you do about it?

While the state of America's food supply may seem daunting, there are steps you can take to make healthier choices. One of the most effective ways to improve the quality of your food is to buy organic, non-gmo foods. Organic foods grown without synthetic pesticides and GMOs are safer and more nutritious options.

Another way to support a healthier food system is to buy locally grown produce and support small-scale farmers. By shopping at farmers' markets or joining a community-supported agriculture (CSA) program, you can ensure that your food is fresh, seasonal, and sustainably produced.  In Northwest Arkansas, where Tara and I live, we have lots of options (Tuckaway Farm, Five Sisters Farm, Ozark Pasture Beef, and many more).

Take action for a healthier future

The core vitamins that your body needs, and which have been depleted from our food supply are Vitamin C, D, K, and Magnesium.  Believe me, you need much more than these in a supplement form, but these are extremely important nutrients for the health of your immune system and to help your body to combat the ravages of the poisons saturating our food.  At Utmost Nutrients, we will be adding supplements in the order of importance, but at this point, we feel that these three are vital and difficult to obtain in needed amounts through even the healthiest of diets.

Conclusion

The quality of our big farm food supply is not getting better.  Though I wish I could offer hope that it will improve, there is no sign to point to with confidence.  On the other hand, even places like Walmart are offering far more non-GMO organic options from smaller farms.  Spend a bit more, serve a bit less and supplement with only the highest quality 3rd party tested and verified supplements.  Protect the body you have been given so that you can live your life to the utmost.
